Microsoft Shutters Wunderlist in Favor of To-Do

Microsoft has a new way to help you stay organized.

The Redmond firm has launched a brand new app, dubbed To-Do, to help you create lists and schedules and set reminders.

Powered by Office 365 integration and an intelligent algorithm, the app is now available in Preview. It replaces Wunderlist, the app Microsoft acquired two years ago when it purchased its creator, a German start-up known as 6Wunderkinder GmbH.

To-do-suggestionsThe team behind the Wunderlist app, which now works for Microsoft, re-imagined its old technology to create a more intuitive and customizable app.

“To-Do helps you create a list for anything—for work, home projects or just your groceries. You can keep track of deadlines by adding reminders, due dates and notes, and personalize each list with colourful themes,” Microsoft To-Do general manager Ori Artman said in a blog post.

“Managing your to-dos and lists can sometimes take as much effort as completing them. To-Do helps you focus and plan your day from the moment you open the app. Every morning, your My Day list starts out with a clean slate, allowing you to be more intentional about what you want to get done.”

To-Do’s Intelligent Suggestions can help you to determine which tasks are most important. Simply tap the lightbulb to see to-dos from the day before, as well as upcoming tasks and other helpful suggestions from the app’s algorithm. You can then choose which you wish to add to your My Day list.

To-Do offers integration with Office and Outlook as well as advanced security complete with encrypted data. It is available for iPhone, Android and Windows phone users as well as on the Web.
